Таllinn Sports School
The Tallinn Sports School is an institute of sports, managed by the Tallinn Sports and Youth Department, the aim of which is to promote competitive sports in cooperation with private sports clubs.
The Tallinn Sports School provides talented young athletes from Tallinn, between the ages of 11 and 19, with the opportunity to engage in additional training, supplementing the services offered by sports clubs. The Sports School organises the sporting activities of competitive athletes in cycles, regarding which a cooperation agreement is entered into with a sports club and/or athlete. The athletes and teams for sports games are selected for different sports by way of competitions. The selection of sports participating in a competition is made from among Olympic events and sports preferentially developed by Tallinn based on the budget of the establishment. Since September 2016, sixteen sports are being engaged in based on the new Statutes: basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton, tennis, épée fencing, swimming, judo, karate, boxing, Taekwondo, rhythmic gymnastics, hockey, figure skating, speed skating, and biathlon.
