Chinese New Year celebrations in Freedom Square January 19th

Join the Chinese New Year celebrations with colourful shows, performances in the Freedom Square this Sunday, January 19th.

Every year, many people come to the square to enjoy a colourful programme, free stage performances and traditional Chinese food. For welcoming the 2020 Year of the Metal Rat, artists from the Bejing Opera and Arts College, singer-songwriter Daichin Tana (together with bänd HAYA), Chinese craftsmen and an ice sculptor are arriving in Tallinn. The concert will end with a spectacular fire performance!

Estonian artists will also perfrom on stage - Tai-Chi Sports Club performances, dragon and lion dances, drum perfromances led by Silver Ulvik and fire show of the Mystic Dance Studio  will bring fun to all. A small thematic market can also be found at the venue.

There will also be 2 sculptures made at the same time - traditionally, the ice sculpture of a Chinese artist and a modeled work by Tauno Kangro. This year, the sculptures depict rats.

In addition to this year's main event, there will also be a lecture and a workshop at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater in cooperation with the Beijing Opera and Arts College, and a seminar for tourism companies in the Viru Hotel.

The free events are organized by Tallinn Culture Department and Beijing Culture and Tourism Bureau.
