Mayor of Tallinn met with German Ambassador

On 5 November the Mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kõlvart met with the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Christiane Hohmann.

The German Ambassador praised Tallinn for its good organisation, diversity, cleanliness and innovation, and took an interest in Tallinn’s near-term development plans.

“Our biggest challenge over the next few years is to elaborate a new concept for Tallinn’s spatial planning, including for major infrastructure and development projects, and in coordination with our neighbouring municipalities devise a new concept for cross-border public transport,” noted Kõlvart.

The Ambassador highlighted the success of e-governance and e-services in Estonia and in Tallinn and pointed out that the German government sector is highly interested in our developments. This interest is evidenced by the visits of nearly 20 different German delegations to the Tallinn City Government over the recent years.

“One of our objectives is to share our knowledge and experience but we should avoid complacency and monitor progress made in other cities to keep up with the developments,” said the Mayor.
