Old Town Days are held in Tallinn

The 35-th Old Town Days were opened on June 1st, with a children’s parade and an evening concert at the Town hall Square in Tallinn.

This year, the tenet of the Old Town Days is “The Changing City”. The rich cultural programme offers various opportunities to listen and see and take part in for people of all ages.

The Old Town Days programme lasts until June 5th and consists of nearly 500 events. The audience can enjoy a total of 105 concerts and 99 shows, take part in 67 excursions and 91 workshops. In addition, there will be 110 different events for children. The whole programme is divided between 89 locations all over the Old Town in Tallinn.

Compared to the previous years, there is a new showground at the Pond of Snelli, where a spectacular stage for the final-performances is built. Toompea is very closely attached to the Old Town Days programme this year said Alar Nääme, the director of the Central City of Tallinn. A lot of establishments at Toompea open their doors for visitors on June 3rd in honour of the Old Town Days. Nääme invites all citizens and visitors of Tallinn to take part in the abundant programme that carries on for five days.

„This is an awaited annual cultural festival for people of Tallinn and visitors from other cities and even abroad, coming over especially for the event. A tradition which has lasted for 35 years is a proof of the popularity of the Old Town Days and its vitality“the Central City district director said.
