In connection with restructuring the municipal communication system the City Government decided to replace Raepress by the Communication Unit - a structural unit of the City Office.
“The purpose of this change is to restructure and modernise the municipal communication system to better meet the needs related to informing the citizens and their changed media consumption habits. This is a step towards developing municipal media and communication,” said the Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart.
The Public Relations Division of the City Office will accommodate a Communication Unit with a staff of six to disseminate important information related to urban affairs and work with various media channels so as to make the life of local residents and visitors comfortable and pleasant and keep them up to speed.
The Communication Unit will include a total of six positions: Head of Unit and five Press Representatives - two for communication in Estonian, two for Russian and one for English. Raepress currently employs seven people: Head of Unit and six Editors.
A public competition will be announced to find press representatives for the Communication Unit.
