September is the Mobility Month in Tallinn

Tallinn has dedicated the month of September to green and sustainable mobility. Also in September, from 16 to 22, the European Mobility Week is held, which focuses on the theme ‘Move Sustainably. Stay Healthy’.

The common goal of the 20th European Mobility Week and the 10th Tallinn Mobility Month is to improve public health by promoting active mobility and sustainable urban transport. Tallinn, in cooperation with city district administrations, city departments and other partners, has set itself the goal to make the urban atmosphere and traffic environment more comfortable, safe, and sustainable.

"We invite people to maintain their physical and mental health and at the same time discover their hometown. We want to encourage residents to commute more on foot, by bicycle and by public transport, all of which are environmentally friendly modes of transport," said Deputy Mayor Kalle Klandorf. "Every journey starts with the first step and it's nice to take those steps together. The Mobility Month offers a diverse program of sports, exercise and orienteering events, cycling trainings and other joint activities all over the city, which are definitely worth participating in.”

10-12 September, the largest national sports event in the region, the Tallinn Marathon, will take place in Tallinn. The running distances are 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km and, due to the pandemic situation, a virtual run is also taking place that can be completed between 1 and 30 September.

8-29 September, excursions and workshops to the study gardens of Tallinn kindergartens take place, in order to exchange practises of nature education and outdoor learning.

16-23 September, free outdoor trainings will be organized in eight community gardens, which is a good opportunity to stimulate one's health as well as visit Tallinn's community gardens.

Tallinn is one of the four finalists of the 2023 European Green Capital Competition. The city has set itself the goal of carrying out a green transition in all areas to create a green city with a better environment and urban space.
