The use of winter tires is permitted from October 15th to March 31st and winter tires are compulsory from December 1st to March 1st. All-season tires are permitted all year round.
"As the streets of Tallinn are predominantly snow and ice-free, it makes no sense to spin the asphalt particles with studded tires,” said Tarmo Sulg, the Deputy Head of Tallinn Municipal Service Department. “This year, spring cleaning started on the main streets and green areas of Tallinn on March 19th; in the city center even earlier, at the end of February. We have also started collecting granite chips from bicycle lanes and footpaths."
The service life of studded tires is regulated by the regulation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications "Technical Requirements and Requirements for Equipment of a Motor Vehicles and Trailers". According to the regulation, studded tires are allowed until March 31st.
Please note that only up to eight used car tires are taken free of charge from one person to the waste stations. More than eight tires are charged for.
