European Green Capital 2022 is Grenoble

Yesterday, on the 8th of October, European Commission in Lisbon announced who will be European Green Capital 2022. The winner was a city of Grenoble in France.

„We would like to congratulate Grenoble for winning the title of European Green Capital 2022! They definitely have very interesting plans, and we will follow the implementation of their program and ideas with great empathy. Also we would like to say a big thank you to our co-finalists and to the jury, “ said The Mayor of Tallinn, Mihhail Kõlvart.

The Mayor added that Tallinn is actually a winner as well by being part of this competition and being one of the finalists this year. “Already the fact that Tallinn was nominated as one of the finalists in spring, has given us a push to give a sense to the city's green revolution, make the city organisations greener and take a number of new initiatives. Despite the fact that we did not win this time, Tallinn will definitely continue with the ideas and plans we brought to life in the journey on becoming a European Green Capital 2022, he added.

The Mayor also said a big thank you to his team, who has been doing a great job and thinking green ideas for several months now. “Tallinn will not give up its aspiration to become the Green Capital,” said Kõlvart.
