Tallinn came in first in the “Best Value Destination 2018” urban category of Lonely Planet’s global Best in Travel campaign! Have you not been to Tallinn yet? Come visit us and see for yourself that Tallinn is indeed the best of the best!
Why is Tallinn worth visiting, in the opinion of Lonely Planet?
Tallinn in summertime is warm, lush. The city is compact and walkable, but even catching transit to attractions outside the core is not expensive. The picturesque Old Town is filled with great restaurants – with traditional Estonian, Russian, Georgian and even vegan cuisine – for a good priceAlso worth exploring is the exciting and historically valuable Kalamaja district, which boasts a truly Bohemian atmosphere and includes the Telliskivi Creative City, attracting visionaries and artistically minded folk.
How does Lonely Planet create the Best in Travel list?
Every year Lonely Planet’s writers and staff are requested to nominate destinations and consult their travel community, asking them to specify why each place would be worth visiting in next year based on current travel trends, upcoming events and attractions, and more.
The editors then carefully select a shortlist of the most appealing, interesting and diverse destinations.
To finalize the list, a panel of in-house experts pick the final ten in each category (countries, cities and regions) by giving each destination in the shortlist a score for topicality, excitement and “x-factor”.
