Public botanic and fruit garden (Lasnamäe10)

The project idea is quite simple: creating a green urban environment that is suitable for walking, relaxing and learning about the plant kingdom. The result should be something resembling a botanic garden. Low-maintenance plant species should be planted. The area could be filled with benches and pedestrian paths. A green labyrinth, a quiz on local plants, a treehouse, an area for fruit trees and shrubs, a community garden and temporary nature or environment themed exhibitions could be set up in the green park. The area could be partly maintained by local activists and people with interest in nature. A botanic garden is a quality place to relax, get creative and study that also helps you get to know the world around us. Possible address: Läänemere tee 14

The idea is to encourage people to spend more time outdoors. Outlets could be installed near things like bus stops, benches and lampposts where the power cord can be routed to. The option to charge your devices creates the preconditions for doing remote work outdoors. It also helps people actively use more environmentally friendly modes of transport by creating more opportunities to charge an electric scooter or other means of transport.

Public library on Ümera Street (Lasnamäe17)

Loving and caring for books begins in childhood. The public library project is aimed at popularising sensible consumption, improving urban space and bringing the local community closer together. The proposal would see the area improved, the installation of outdoor furniture and the construction of a reading pavilion with bookshelves. The city carried out a similar project for the first time back in 2020 in Kadriorg, when the public reading corner Valge leht (‘White Page’) (authors: Jaan Tiidemann and Jarmo Vaik) was installed at the intersection of Faehlmann and Koidula streets. Drinking fountains near children’s playgrounds and dog-walking areas (Lasnamäe23)

Water is the foundation of life! During the hot season, access to water is not only essential in the Kadriorg and Tondiraba parks, but also in Pae Park where many people walk, including children and their dogs, who all need refreshment. Katleri Kase-Varese community park development (Lasnamäe4)

Proposal to renovate Kase-Varese Park behind the children’s playground: plant new trees, clean the area, install benches and build a public stage for the subdistrict. Install tables for board games and a path for children with trampolines. A traffic route with accessories such as locked bicycle parking spots, a bus stop, traffic lights, crosswalks, traffic signs, etc. could also be added. Proposal to build benches with backrests in all outdoor areas, adding areas for benches to the existing roads and playgrounds in the district. People could enjoy the summer sun with less time spent looking for a bench. Playgrounds don’t have enough benches either and parents don’t have anywhere to sit.

Picnic areas in Iru beach (Lasnamäe54)

We would like structures with roofs that are suitable for picnics in Lasnamäe, wherever possible. Spending time in fresh air has never hurt anyone yet. Eating in the fresh air, under a roof, the sound of rain in the background – what else could you need to relax? There are barely any places to have a picnic in Lasnamäe with a roof over your head. Specifically with a roof because it rains here so often. There used to be picnic houses like this near the Pirita River, but there is only one left now.

Public restrooms on playgrounds (Lasnamäe76) 

Big playgrounds should have at least one restroom; even bigger playgrounds should have two to three. It’s easy to guess what problem this solves. It’s just as easy to guess how parents of young children have solved the problem so far. The proposal includes at least two new public restrooms.
