Kalamaja open-air youth and training park (Põhja-Tallinn1)

A Youth Park – an area aimed at school-age children. The park would give the opportunity to spend time while being more physically active and having fun. For this, it would have various climbing areas and other possibilities for kids to test themselves, e.g. a balance track, an obstacle course and a climbing wall. In addition, the area could have a ping-pong table, a basketball hoop and, if possible, a soccer field with reduced dimensions. The plan is to seek advice from young people themselves.

A training park which promotes outdoor training and a healthy lifestyle is accessible to everyone regardless of income. Construction of the Omnigym outdoor gym with adjustable weights in Haabersti district gives its residents the opportunity to perform the same quality of strength training outdoors all year around as is possible to do in indoor gyms. Lõime Street environmental area (Põhja-Tallinn14)

Threads of time on Lõime Street We’d like to see the ruined landscaping on Lõime Street be restored and the preservation of the boulevard to be ensured. We’d also like to see the practice of replacing a tree as soon as it becomes damaged or destroyed and for there to be no trees of varying ages in the landscaping at all. There should also be an informational plaque explaining the environmental value of this location with photos from the past. There could also be a large flower bed on the street which residents could design and maintain themselves.

Japanese-inspired miniature forest in Põhja-Tallinn (Põhja-Tallinn40)

Proposal to plant a diverse dense miniature forest in the district, which would attract insects and birds to the city, increase biodiversity and reduce air pollution and noise levels. A self-regulating and fast-growing forest system built using the Japanese method. Ideally, it would be nice to establish such a mini-forest in every district of the city and throughout Estonia in the future. Districts could identify places where trees could be planted so they wouldn’t interfere with the infrastructure or roads of the city. This way, it would be possible to find resources for landscaping and sustainable development of districts every year. Located at Vabriku 11

Outdoor chess in the Stroomi area (Põhja-Tallinn49)

Proposal to install large chess pieces in the district to play with outdoors in any weather. Outdoor chess is widespread in other European cities. A game of chess in the fresh air, with a cup of coffee sounds good, no? The chess playground could be named after Paul Keres and become an attraction for all chess lovers in North Estonia. A possible location could be Stroomi Beach.

Low adventure trail in the yard of Ristiku Primary School (Põhja-Tallinn5)

Ristiku Primary School has taken a big step closer to the community in recent years. The motto of the school is ‘School for everyone, for the open community’. We have opened regular classes, cooperated with locals in the school garden, been the venue for community days and so on. We want to bring the school and the community closer together and build a low adventure trail in the school yard which can be used by both students and nearby residents in accordance with usage rules. Community fore the school and school for the community! Located in the Ristiku 69 yard area, near the existing fitness campus, climbing area and study garden.

Tallinn Poetry Trail in North Tallinn (Põhja-Tallinn50)

The Tallinn Poetry Trail consists of 30 poetry fragments from contemporary Estonian poets, which will make their way around the entire Hanseatic city! These are vital small moments which offer an opportunity to pause in the middle of the whirling storm of the metropolis and get out of the routine pace of life at least for a moment. It is a kind of cultural health trail that gives people something to do and a reason to discover neighbourhoods they may have never been to before. The trail is most comfortably accessible on foot, by bike or using public transport.

Educational bicycle trail in the Stroomi and Merimetsa area (Põhja-Tallinn7)

The educational bicycle trail consists of various elements which imitate obstacles in traffic and elements that are fun to cross. The goal is to create a safe environment where children can develop their riding skills through play. All while in a safe environment. Elements imitating tram tracks, roots, holes, curbs, etc. can be seen on the track. The problem with the idea of learning trails is that today’s learning trails drawn on the ground are not attractive to children and riding on them becomes boring after a few laps.

Stroomi Beach Arena (Põhja-Tallinn8)

Stroomi Beach Arena, the centre of all beach sports in Tallinn! Tallinn needs a proper beach sports centre. There are a few courts scattered across the city, but no central one. We propose to create a special area for beach tennis and beach volleyball courts on Stroomi Beach. ​​Stroomi Beach area could end up having a similar beach tennis area to Rahingel, but the total area would be about 5040 m2 and have a total of 10 courts. Example of Rahingu courts: https://tennis.ee/tennisekeskused/rahinge-rannatennis/ Rannaspordi harrastamine on vigastuste vaene ja sobib kõikidele vanuserühmadele. The court area would make Stroomi Beach more attractive and allow many competitions in beach tennis and beach volleyball to be organised. The ITF Beach Tennis World Tournament could also take place in Estonia in the coming years. It would certainly give rise to wider interest among the residents of Tallinn and would also find positive media coverage.
