National Culture Days in Tallinn on 16-29 September

On 16-29 September, Tallinn will be hosting the fifth National Culture Days to celebrate the Estonian Nations Day and commemorate the first gathering of the Forum of Estonian Nations in 1998. Over a two-week period there you can attend free workshops, and lectures introducing various nations and go to exhibitions, the cinema and concerts to learn about the culture of national minorities.

According to Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, Vadim Belobrovtsev, the programme of National Culture Days features exciting and educational workshops. “People can learn about Latin American cuisine, languages of different nations, try recreational exercises known as tai chi, and Egyptian dance. The events will surely provide some insights about our neighbours - both near and far - and facilitate better mutual understanding,” added the Deputy Mayor.

The National Culture Days feature exhibitions from various renowned professional as well as amateur artists at the Russian Culture Centre, Tallinn Folk High School, Paepealse Library, Photography Museum, Estonian National Library and Vabaduse väljak.

The concert programme includes a multitude of events for the fans of classical, folk and popular music. Concerts are held at the Russian Culture Centre, Raekoja plats, Kloostri Ait, Alexela Concert House, Basement Hall of the House of the Blackheads, and Estonia Concert Hall.

The National Culture Days end with a concert by the crossover band Terem Quartet in Estonia Concert Hall at 17:00 on 29 September. The quartet from St. Petersburg has developed a new approach to Russian folk music instruments and given thousands of concerts in 65 countries across the world. Concert tickets cost three euros and are available at Piletilevi.
