Tallinn City Goverment decided to support children in private kindergartens and daycares. The kindergarten fee for children in municipal kindergartens has also been waived. During the emergency situation, all of the families with children in Tallinn’s preschool institutions save €71,25 per child each month until decided otherwise by the Tallinn City Council. To apply for the allowance, you have to submit an application.
„In the emergency situation, the City will equally support all of the families whose children are in kindergartens regardless of whether they attend daycares, municipal or private kindergartens,” said the Mayor of Tallinn, Mr Mihhail Kõlvart. „Guaranteeing a safe place for each child to be looked after is especially necessary during the emergency situation. One must keep in mind that there are many parents who can not stay home in this difficult situation because they provide essential services,“ added the Mayor.
New allowances help to lower the financial burden of many families. The need for additional financial support comes from the worsened economic situation in which also the parents using private kindergarten and daycare services may have difficulties due to the current crisis.
In the case of private kindergarten allowance, an application with documents proving payment of the kindergarten’s invoice have to be sent to Tallinn’s Education Department. Application for daycare allowance needs to submitted to Social Welfare Department of the City District where your child is registred.
The private kindergartens of Tallinn offer services to about 800 children and more than hundred use the service of daycares.
