Taavi Aas: I continue my service in the Parliament

Mayor of Tallinn Taavi Aas announced today that he will continue his service in the Parliament as the political situation has changed and his team needs him now.

“At the last parliamentary elections nearly 4,000 people in Mustamäe and Nõme voted for me to join the Parliament. I have decided to honour their request,” said Aas in his today’s statement.

On the national level Aas intends to focus on financial and economic issues and extend the rights of local governments.

“I tend to approach all new endeavours with caution but the political situation has changed significantly since February and in these circumstances my team needs my input on the national level.

The completion of the new and stylish building of the Cultural Centre Kaja in Mustamäe is a nice way to finish nearly fifteen years of service in city governance,” said Aas.

He added that he is glad to have been able to contribute to the completion of various structures in the city ranging from Vabaduse väljak to Haabersti junction both in his capacity as Deputy Mayor as well as Mayor.

“I am even more glad that Tallinn has a renovated song festival stage and renewed Kalevi Stadium to host the next song and dance festival,” said Aas.

“Tallinn remains in good hands”, he assured. According to Aas, it is notable that the new government feels positive about Tallinn’s plans which means that major joint projects of the central government and the city can be implemented now.
