Tallinn is not a big city, but there is a lot to discover – be it the pearl of the City - the Old Town of Tallinn, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, museums or City Districts. In Tallinn, there most certainly is something for everyone!
In the Old Town, one will find the oldest pharmacy in Europe, a church tower that was once the tallest in the world and the most powerful defensive wall in Northern Europe. In addition, it is worth exploring the system of towers that defended Tallinn in several wars, as well as exciting medieval underground passages, cosy courtyards and romantic cafes.
But there is a lot more to see in Tallinn besides the Old Town. Some examples of truly amazing locations and districts to visit are Kalamaja and Telliskivi, Noblessner, Kadriorg, Pirita, Rocca al Mare and Nõmme. Tallinn is a truly diverse city – while wandering from one part of the city to another, one might feel as in a completely new city.
Tallinn is a great place for visiting with children
If accompanied by children, visiting the Zoo and the Botanic Garden are always a good idea. For those in love with height and amazing views, the Ferris wheel towering above the city near T1 and the TV Tower in Pirita are a must-see. To get a better idea of how the city was defended in various wars, the towers of the Old Town city walls tell a fascinating story. The Old Town also has unique underground passages – a go-to for escaping the heat! For the fans of museums and discovery centres, Proto Invention Factory, the Seaplane Harbour and the various museums of Old Town and Kadriorg are on the checklist.
There is plenty to discover in Tallinn and, even better, everything is at your fingertips and conveniently accessible by public transport!
Delicious food and a diverse restaurant culture have become one of the main reasons for visiting Tallinn. One can even enjoy a „tasty journey around the world“ by visiting exciting national restaurants located right here in Tallinn. This is especially interesting in the reality of coronavirus crisis where many of the borders remain closed.
