  • Baltic Sea Day Conference: topics related to water in the Baltic sea and Tallinn are discussed from various angles. The presentations address the state of the Baltic Sea, the impact of human activity on the Baltic Sea and the changes in the sea’s ecological state among other things. The conference lasts until 15:30 and will be streamed online for viewers. Organiser: Tallinn. Additional information and schedule.

  • Activity exhibition The Book Flood: An Adventure Through Nordic Stories in the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre. Guided experience tours also available. The activity is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ office in Estonia and the Embassy of the Republic of Iceland. Additional information
  • Nature trips to the island of Aegna in Estonian and in Russian. Participation is free but you have to register beforehand. Registration opens at 12:00 on 19 August 2021. Organiser: Tallinn. Additional information in Estonian and in Russian.
  • Environmental study programme for kindergartens at Seabin, the marine litter collector. Registration needed. Organiser: Tallinn in cooperation with the Port of Tallinn. Additional information

  • Children’s programme at the Seaplane Harbour, where the children are welcomed by Ümarmudil Ülo. The activities last until 13:00 and are most suitable for children between the ages of 5–9. You need a museum ticket to participate. Organiser: The Estonian Maritime Museum. Additional information

  • The Baltic Sea experience exhibition Maria the Sturgeon's Dream at the Estonian Museum of Natural History. The museum is open until 19:00. You need a museum ticket to enter the exhibition. Additional information

12:00

  • Tying sea knots and drawing together on the topic My Baltic Sea at the Mustamäe Children's Creative House. The event will be bilingual and the supervisor is Dmitri Petrjakov, a teacher of the Mustamäe Children’s Creative House marine school. Duration: 2 hours. Register: [email protected]. Additional information will be provided one day before the event at the latest on Facebook.

13:00

  • Baltic Sea Day at the Kristiine Youth Centre. There will be a viewing of an Estonian educational film about the Baltic Sea. Participants can cook simple fish dishes, make sand paintings using, colourful sand and have be a discussion about maintaining the Baltic Sea. The activities will last until 17:00. Additional information will be provided one day before the event at the latest.
  • Baltic Sea Day at the Tallinn Fish Market (Kalasadama 5). A traditional fish market will take place and fish chef Hanno Kase will be visiting. Visitors can learn about the fish of the Baltic Sea and how to cook them. Children can take part in fun and educational fish-themed activities and Siia-Miia, the mascot of the campaign Fish Sounds Good, will be visiting. The market will be open until 17:00.   • Aegna Embassy at Inglirand in Tallinn. The embassy tent will be open from 14:00 to 17:00. Those who are interested can find information about the Aegna island from the embassy and meet the island mayor and ask them about what life is like on the island. Presentations about the island and life on the island will take place every hour. There will also be a children’s area. The event will end with a concert by Kukerpillid at 18:00. The event is free.   • Cooking class at the Northern Tallinn Youth Centre; participants will be cooking a fish dish made from the fish of the Baltic Sea. Duration: 1.5 hours. Anyone can participate, the activities of the youth centre are generally aimed at people aged 7–26. Additional information will be provided one day before the event at the latest.

16:30

  • Walks along Reidi tee in Estonian and in Russian. Topic: Reidi tee in the urban space. Duration: 1.5 hours. Registration for the trips will be opened at 12:00 on 19 August 2021. Organiser: Tallinn. Additional information in Estonian and in Russian.

17:00

  • Sea rescue training and a boat trip on a recreational craft at the Seaplane Harbour Marina. Participation on a first-come-first-served basis, ticket is 8 euros and can be bought before the event at the register of the Seaplane Harbour.   • Concert by Kukerpillid at Inglirand in Tallinn. The event is free. Organiser: Tallinn. Additional information
  • Nature construction workshop inspired by the Baltic Sea at Pelguaed (Ehte 40). The workshop will introduce different ways to make building blocks using the natural materials (clay and reed) found at the beaches of the Baltic Sea. Registration needed. Organiser: Tallinn. Additional information

  • Walk the Tideline film screening at the Film Museum. Organiser: Finnish Institute

19:00

  • Excursion in Tallinn’s Old City Harbour. Hele-Mai Metsal, head of the development department of the Port of Tallinn, will be leading the excursion around the harbour area and talking about the history of the harbour as well as its future.
