Piirkonna vabatahtlikud said teist korda teha oma ühise koostööprojekti, mille eesmärk oli tutvustada vabatahtlikku teenistust Hiiumaal. Selleks koondusid kokku viis lasteaeda: Kristiine, Tihase, Linnupesa, Kullatera, Kullerkupu - kokku neist kaheksa vabatahtlikku nende seas ka meie Helena, kes oma kogemust järgnevalt juba ise jagab.

After our last cooperative project was such a success, some volunteers from the Kristiine area in Tallinn and I started to plan another project together. The goal: pointing out the advantages of hosting volunteers in an organization and the positive effect it brings. This project in particular was about to take place on Hiiumaa, where volunteers haven’t been sent to before.
Our idea was to playfully show the benefits of volunteers through performing a puppet show. We created a story about an Estonian swallow (me) that gets a little bored of its home country and decides to travel through some countries of the world. Each of us volunteers represented our own country in form of an animal: Georgia (wolf), Austria (cow), Netherlands (sheep), Columbia (frog), Germany (mouse), France (elephant) and Italy (wolf).
During the travel the swallow meets each of the animals who briefly tell or show her some interesting and easy facts about the country, e.g. music, food,.. Meanwhile we showed the according picture to the countries on the projector.
In the final monologue of the swallow she realizes the uniqueness of every single country, which makes them so beautiful and interesting and also worships the valuable connections and friendships she made during the cultural exchange.
The puppet show was supposed to not only awaken the interest of the children and teachers, but also pointe out the beauty in cultural difference and the importance of cultural exchange.
After the theoretical part was done, the script was written and the resources organized, we went over to the practical part of the project.
Before traveling to Hiiumaa, we did a little rehearsing performance in one of our own groups, also to see how the children react to it and where we might need some improvement. Although we were a little nervous about speaking so Estonian in front of an audience, we managed very well to play our show through understandably and smoothly. The children and teachers enjoyed it and now we had an idea of how the final result would look like.
The next and crucial part of the project then was Hiiumaa. On the 15. and 16. of May 2025, us volunteers and our tutors travelled to the island to visit Kärdla youth center, the Kõpu lighthouse, some local beaches, the wind tower museum and of course our main destination where the play would happen. Arriving in the “Palade Lasteaed” the children and teachers were already very open and welcoming towards so many new and young people.
We prepared everything for the show and presented our own project with the biggest amount of enthusiasm and effort we could bring up. The children reacted excited towards every new country/animal that that appeared and participated as much as possible. We finished of the show with answering the children’s questions and receiving some small gifts as an act of appreciation. Then outside we got the chance to play and connect with some children, before ending the main part of our Hiiumaa-Project.
Our main goal was fulfilled. We found a way to bring the benefits of a Volunteer-Project closer to both teachers and children, through giving them a glimpse of the experience it holds to host a volunteer themselves.

But also for us volunteers it was an amazing and valuable experience, not only for traveling to Hiiumaa and its environment, but also teaching us to bring our purpose closer. How to efficiently plan and organize a bigger project and cooperate with one another and also new people.
We definitely succeeded in our task and its experience in all those different ways!

Pärast meie eelmise koostööprojekti edu hakkasime koos Kristiine piirkonna vabatahtlikega planeerima uut projekti. Eesmärk: tuua välja vabatahtlike vastuvõtmise eelised organisatsioonis ja selle positiivne mõju. Lähemalt rääkides, on see projekt mõeldud Hiiumaale, kuhu vabatahtlikke varem ei ole saadetud.
Meie idee oli näidata mänguliselt vabatahtlike töö eeliseid nukuteatri kaudu. Tegime loo Eesti suitsupääsukesest(mina), kes tüdineb oma kodumaast ja otsustab reisida läbi maailma riikide. Igaüks meist, vabatahtlikest, esindas oma riiki looma kujul: Gruusia (hunt), Austria (lehm), Holland (lammas), Columbia (konn), Saksamaa (hiir), Prantsusmaa (elevant) ja Itaalia (hunt).
Reisi ajal kohtub pääsuke iga loomaga, kes räägivad või näitavad talle lühidalt mõningaid huvitavaid ja lihtsaid fakte riigi kohta, nt muusika, toit jne. Samal ajal näitasime projektoril riikidele vastavaid pilte.
Nukuteater pidi mitte ainult äratama laste ja õpetajate huvi, vaid ka juhtima tähelepanu kultuuriliste erinevuste ilule ja kultuurivahetuse olulisusele.
Pärast teoreetilise osa läbimist, stsenaariumi kirjutamist ja ressursside korrastamist asusime projekti praktilise osa juurde.
Enne Hiiumaale reisimist tegime ühes oma lasteaia rühmas väikese prooviesinemise, et näha, kuidas lapsed sellele reageerivad ja kus võiksime veel areneda. Kuigi olime pisut närvis, et peame publiku ees nii palju eesti keeles rääkima, õnnestus meil oma etendus väga hästi, arusaadavalt ja sujuvalt läbi mängida. Lastele ja õpetajatele see meeldis ning meil ettekujutus, milline lõpptulemus välja näeb.
Projekti järgmine ja ülioluline osa oli seejärel Hiiumaa. 15. ja 16. mail 2025 reisisime meie, vabatahtlikud, ja tuutorid, saarele, et külastada Kärdla noortekeskust, Kõpu tuletorni, mõningaid kohalikke randu, tuuletorni muuseumi ja loomulikult meie peamist sihtkohta, kus näidend toimuma pidi. „Palade Lasteaeda“ saabudes olid lapsed ja õpetajad juba väga avatud ja vastutulelikud nii paljude uute noorte suhtes.
Valmistasime etenduseks kõik ette ja esitlesime oma projekti suurima entusiasmi ja pingutusega, mida suutsime pakkuda. Lapsed reageerisid igale uuele riigile/loomale, kes ilmus, elevusega ja osalesid nii palju kui võimalik. Lõpetasime etenduse laste küsimustele vastates ja tänutäheks väikeste kingituste saamisega. Seejärel saime õues mängida ja lastega suhelda, enne kui Hiiumaa projekti põhiosa lõppes.
Meie peamine eesmärk sai täidetud. Leidsime viisi, kuidas tuua vabatahtliku projekti eelised nii õpetajatele kui ka lastele lähemale, andes neile aimu, millist kogemust pakub vabatahtliku vastuvõtmine.

Aga ka meie, vabatahtlike jaoks, oli see hämmastav ja väärtuslik kogemus, mis mitte ainult Hiiumaale reisimise ja selle keskkonna pärast, vaid õpetas meile ka oma eesmärki lähemale tooma. Kuidas suuremat projekti tõhusalt planeerida ja korraldada ning teha koostööd nii üksteise kui ka uute inimestega.
Meil õnnestus oma ülesanne ja sellega kaasnev kogemus kindlasti kõigil neil erinevatel viisidel!
