Kuidas Nadjal läheb?

Kuidas Nadjal läheb?

Hello everyone,FLLU7922[1].JPG

my name is Nadja and I'm currently doing my voluntary service through European Solidarity Corps in the Tallinna kindergarten Südameke. I'm from the southern part of Germany, 18 years old and finished school in summer last year. Because I didn't know what to do after school I decided to spend a year abroad and found my project here in Tallinn.

On January, 25th I arrived in Tallinn and started to work at the kindergarten a few days later. As you can tell I haven't been here very long, only for about two and a half months, but I already experienced many exciting things! During my short time working at the kindergarten we already did many interesting excursions such as going ice skating, visiting an outdoor museum and looking at the government building (see picture on the right). I also had lots of fun spending time with the kids, playing games, crafting or just helping them get dressed when we go outside.

I was also able to do awesome activities in my free time. Tallinn is a very beautiful city, I especially love the old town! One of my highlights during my time here so far has been a trip to Rovaniemi, a city in the finnish lapland. The best part was the unbelievable amount of snow they had! Unfortunately the winter in Estonia wasn't as typically snowy as it usually is. I also hope that I will have the possibility to travel some more both in and outside of Estonia.

Sadly I was only able to work at the kindergarten for a few weeks before the whole coronavirus situation happened. I live in a flat in Lasnamäe and for now I am staying at home. Fortunately I live together with four other amazing girls. We spend time together cooking or baking different foods, watching movies or just talking. I'm also trying to use this time to learn some estonian or do some art. I try to stay connected to my project by making some crafting videos and preparing for future activities.

I certainly hope that the situation will get better soon and we can all return to our normal lives!

Olge terved

Nadja
